I’ve already met some undergrads who will be enrolling this Fall, and I’m looking forward to meet some more!
Best wishes to all the accepted students, hope we have a wonderful life at UB!
Thanks for getting us started! People are always a little shy at first.

I found it quite inspiring i must say…
But a must-see 4 the present young minds
Hey there!!
I’ll be joining this fall too and I am looking to kick start my life in UB before i even touch down there =) nice to meet you Sardar..
Nice to meet you too Sharol
and thanks Amy!
Hey guys! Any suggestions on the living location??On campus or off campus??hope I can get some valuable info from you guys before i make my decision, which has to be soon ^^
THANKS!! =D
Hi Sharol!
I have lived on campus for the past three years now. I have spent the first two in the Residence Halls or the dorms as we commonly call them. Those two years were best time of my college life. I made a lot of new friends. I made study buddies, friends I could do road trips with, friends I could spent vacations with. The past year I have been living on the On Campus Apartments- South Lake Village, which is by the lake and within walking distance of all my classes and the GYM!
( Finally no excuses to go to the Gym ). Living in the Dorms trained me to extend my tolerance limits, while having a room mate around, and also helped me foster friendships with people whom I am living with currently.
Bottom line : I suggest On Campus as it-is-just-wonderful! Amazing food, amazing events, amazing new people and amazing experience. Having gone through the college-dorm experience I can now call my self a seasoned university student.
Hope this will helps in some way!
Keep talking on this forum….. Our topic for this summer is a movie : I AM, the documentary.
Hey people! I’ll be joining you guys this fall as well! I’m too euphoric to even express my sentiments at the moment. I hope that the UB experience is a pleasant and adventurous one. Best wishes to all other fellow undergrads who have been accepted!

Hi everyone,
I am Gelare, and I received my admission decision for the B.Sc in the early March.
I am really excited to meet you guys ^.^
Hi Gelare!
Evn i got accepted for B.Sc
what’s your major?
So According to my stats you are one of the top commenters on this Blog, so I will ask you first : have you watched the documentary I AM, yet? If you have post your thoughts in the Share Your Thoughts section.
Hi Pratik,
I’m sorry about getting back to you a little bit late, so take my apology!
I am majoring in Computer Science. How about you?
oh no problem!
well, my major is aerospace engineering…
so where r u from?
Iran.
Oh! Salam Gela!
Oh nice!
well, see you at the international student orientation…
@ Dee: LOL salam Dee
Actually the term Salam has some sorta Arabic root, and thus it’s not Persian. However, a great number of Iranian use it.
Do you guys use the same thing?
@ Pratik: Thanks. BTW I had been to India once.
oh, cool so which cities did u visit in India?? Im form mumbai…
@ Gela I have a lot of Iranian friends over here at UB, they mostly use Salam, I have been learning persian from them haha. Trying my best to blend in hehe
@ Pratik: Well, I didn’t have the chance to visit Mumbai. However, I visited Delhi, Agra, and also Jaihour. Sorry I’m not sure if I’m spelling them correctly.
@ Dee: Oh awesome. I thought I’d be the only Iranian undergrad as I couldn’t find any other admittees. So, is anyone of them an undergrad student there?
@Gela : You just made my day by telling me you visited Delhi, that is my city!
*Sigh* it turns out all my Iranian friends, most of them surprising are PhDs infact perhaps all of them are PhD in engineering haha. But nice people.
PS: If you see me on campus, stop me an say hi and I will introduce to the big group
@ Dee: Oh I understand. I hope you visit your city and family soon.
I almost knew that I’ll hardly find Iranian undergrads. But sure, so remember my name.
@Dee: which year student are you? and whats your major??
@Gela: Well, you r my first Iranian friend so you gotta teach me persian at UB
I am a senior, and a double degree in computer engineering and mathematics.
@ Pratik: Haha sure. So do you!
@ Gela: haha I will.
sure thing (Y)
It’s wonderful to see so many new students here!
Hey Sayum, do check your e-mail sometime soon
Hello Folks!
Congratulations on being accepted to University at Buffalo. Or as I say it… welcome to the clubs guys! I am Dee, currently studying Computer Engineering and Mathematics. This is my third year here and I have loved every part of it so far! I am glad to see the future class of 2016!
I have been a member of the UBelong club for the past three years now. I came in as a freshman and my first break was this very place! The UBelong Club!
I would be glad to share my experience and talk about university life and how it feels like to be part of the 30,000 and growing family.
i have heard a lot about the weather do you think it is blown out of proportion?
Its cold here. But… But… people like to boast about it. Bottom line is, Buffalo undergoes what is called the lake effect. We get a decent amount of snow which is really good if you want to snowboard or ski. Its a wonderful experience. It makes one more adaptive. You tune yourself to one more working environment…. COLD TEMPERATURES.
hi guys am so excited to be joining UB this coming fall I hope it will be a great experience for all of us. If anyone is interested in a roommate for living on-campus shoot me an e-mail at abu_kawu@hotmail.com
Hi! I’m majoring in Mechanical Engineering and will be transferring to UB this fall too…
Hey Vishnu! You got lost in the thread here buddy post some thing about your self so that we can get you started on this forum.
I AM- The Documentary is the topic for the UBelong Summer Seminar! Watch this amazing documentary from the Director of Bruce Almighty.

Hello, I will be enrolling in UB on August Majoring in Accounting.
I can’t wait to meet everyone and get to know everyone.
One question. How do you join?
Welcome to the Club Park!
Are you trying to join the UBelong club? if that is the case, I believe since you can post on this Forum, implies that you are a member already! Please do let me know if it is the UBelong Summer Seminar you are trying to join.
Hi everyone,
I’m Zelma and I got accepted this March and I’m very excited. I don’t know anyone that’s been accepted for fall 2012 as i’m an international student.I hope I can get to know people here. Any girl who wants an on-campus room mate should let me know. My e-mail address is zaminigo@yahoo.com.Have fun!
Hey Zelma!
Congratulations on being accepted! Its just a matter of few days ( perhaps hours hehe, if you already have not started receiving emails
)
UB is truly an international university. We have people from all over the world studying and teaching. Besides a quality education one also gets a cultural exposure that is a mix of various cultures from all over the world.
Living on campus facilitates in growing your friend circle, especially for international students it is a place to socialize and with new people, make new friends, study buddies and participate in events.
Once again welcome to the club! I hope I will see you participate in the UBeliong Summer Seminar.
Hello ppl,
I’m Pratik and I’ll be joining u guys this fall.
Can someone pls suggest me which campus should i choose for housing?
Looking forward to see you all!
Btw congrats to all who have been accepted into UB! Cheers!
Hello Pratik!
You can choose either the north or the south campus. Both have dormitory housing for students. South campus primarily is home to the Biological Sciences and the Medical School. North Campus is home to most of the administrative building and departments such as the School of Management, The School of Engineering and Social sciences, the School of Social Works and the College of Arts and Sciences among others. The Residence Halls on both campuses have dinning halls, gym facilities, computer facilities and a frequent bus service plying between both the campuses. South Campus is nearer to Downtown Buffalo and one can experience the hustle and bustle of the town. North Campus on the other hand provides a more sub urban feel which is ideal to some students.
I have lived on the North Campus for over two and half years now and have enjoyed every bit of it. But at the same time I have hung out with friends on South Campus and went to Comedy shows, Buffalo wings festival and Ice hockey games.
I hope this gives you a glimpse of what goes on on these campuses. I also look forward in seeing you participate in our UBelong Summer Seminar.
Cheers
Thanks a lot for the information Dee. I’m hoping for a place in the north campus. As I’m an engineering student my classes would take place on the same campus and staying at the hall sounds fun too!
Hi5!
Hey pratik, u going for engineering right ???
That means housing on north campus….so what u thot about it ?
Hey buddy!
Yeah I’ve applied for housing at the ellicot (north campus)
What abt u?
Hey @Dee!
Nice to have someone with the experience of UB around here to assist us =) Truly appreciate it. Btw, how are the sports there at UB??I am hoping there’s some soccer..
Sports!!!! You name it buddy! Badminton, Tennis, Swimming, Basketball and definitely soccer. UB has a an intramural soccer team that consists of a lot of international students that share the same enthusiasm as you.
So you a Barca fan ? hehehe ;D
Even I’m excited about making it to the soccer team at UB!
Btw Dee, Manchester United supporter here!
Hehe!

UB has a Mid-American -Conference i.e. a MAC Soccer team. I am not sure how you can be a part of that. We also have intramural soccer teams. I know that some students start their own teams and play matches against other similar teams. Our Student association has a Men’s Soccer Club as well.
Personally, I just text my friends get a soccer ball and just find an empty field and GAME on!
We will soon play together guys
It’s good that we are getting to know each other well! thanks to this blog

That’s true!
Guys just add up each other on fb and then v can form a group there…
Hey Pratik
I am not sure its a wise idea to post your social media links on this forum for a variety of reasons, firstly because this section is not a protected section and can be viewed by general public and will might show up in search results.
Secondly, lets keep the blog running man! Lets keep talking here, UBelong Summer seminar is going to start soon!
Sure buddy, let’s just continue here! (Y)
Hey Romit
UBelong Club is a special experience provided only to International undergraduate students to interact among them selves and with distinguished faculty and staff. UBelong Summer Seminar and discussions on this summer’s topic “I AM” a documentary will be carried out on UBelong club, so lets keep talking on this forum.

Hi people,
I want to be sure about something. Classes for biological sciences are held on the south campus right? I am also interested in break housing. I want to live where i can get to classes quick and also have break housing. Any suggestions?
hi zelly29
I am pasting the answer to your question as given by an university official:
“Your status as an international student determines your housing assignment unless stated otherwise. The university places international students in a building that will remain open through all academic breaks when no classes are in session, such as semester break. Other students who do not live in these designated “break housing” areas are asked to vacate their rooms for an extended period of time since the building is closed. We do not want to put our international students in a position to find alternative housing during breaks if it is not necessary.”
hope that helps
Thanks for the info Sam.Btw Zelly29 is also Zelma.
oww.. great
Hi Zelma!
I am not sure where your classes would be but as a Freshman I had all my classes on North Campus, but that was because my department was located on the North Campus. I do have friends who are in a major related to yours, that had a few classes on south campus. It might be the case that you might not have any class on South Campus the first year. Both North and South Campus have break housing and a regular bus service between both classes which will get you from north to south safe and sound on time
@Dee: Can you tell me what are the oncampus jobs available for internationals and how many hours on an average we can work?
Hey Sampurna
That is a hard question to answer at this moment. But 10-12 are the average number of hours that international students work during a semester. All international students are limited to work at most 20 hours. Usually one of the requirements for most of the on campus jobs if not all is, at least one to three semesters of studying at UB. You would be informed more on this during the International Orientation.
Hey Dee, I wanted to know how is the interview?
I mean i went for B2 interview,
But F1 visa??? How is that?
Hey Parth
Ummm that is a tricky question. Unfortunately I am not entitled to talk about immigration, VISA and VISA interviews. Sorry
Thatz okay Dee.
Lets hope its good….

Dear Dee,
I saw you mentioning skiing during the cold times out there. I feel excited about having the opportunity to continue learning how to ski in where I live. Thanks for pointing it out.
BTW, do know if there is any shop or club in which we can rent skiing stuffs like sticks or boards?
Thank you for being with the new student!
My pleasure to be here with the future class of 2016
Oh yes, we have a student club a part of the Student Association or SA called Schussmeisters. You can become a member for the entire season, member ship includes equipment too, you should definitely check it out during orientation. In fact I plan to become a member my self, before I graduate
Awesome! So I hope to meet you in the club.
BTW, do I have to bring a lot of warm clothes?
Okay, thanks for the help.
@Gela, I believe Buffalo gets really cold in the winters.
@Dee, Are you an Engineer too?
Yeah. You’re right.
@Asif! Yes I am!
@Gela! That’s part of the experience at UB. SNOW!! I would not bring a lot of warm clothes, personally I did not bring any, I bought them all here, latest trends, brand and apt for the snow. You can get good, really good and expensive deals. Once you are in UB you shall be able to know more.
So are there any graduate students writing in here? Or is there a different page for the graduate students?
Hey Sayum,

Hi @Dee!!I just would to ask you about the holidays. How do i find out when the summer vacations are exactly??I tried checking thru the academic calender but i couldnt really understand the schedules as they had several different sessions.
I am not sure about Summer 2013. But this time, the spring semester ended in its entirety on 10 May 2012. Graduation ceremonies were held the following weekend. Summer “officially” starts the las day of your final exams. Final exam schedule comes out some time during the 1st quarter leg of the semester. Are you planning your trips for summer 2013 already?
@Dee.. Yeap..U guessed it..My parents are planning to book a 2 way flight instead..Well bcoz of the cost.. u know haha.
What is happening people!? Did all of you or some of you :/ get to watch I AM? We are soon going to bring out the viewers guide This month. Also we would be talking a lot more about ProjectConnet. A few of you have already started to talk about that.
Let us hear some voices. I would really be happy to see every one talk about their experience watching the documentary
